This was painted on a very hot summer day in the Arroyo Seco basin. Arroyo Seco translates as a dry stream, and boy was it ever. A once raging river carved out a canyon through the middle of Pasadena, California. The Rose Bowl sits a couple miles down river in the same canyon as this spot.
