Mountains & Valleys, Ecuadorian Landscapes

While I lived in Ecuador’s Highlands, I became fascinated with the raw beauty and the power of the Ecuadorian Landscape. The rugged rural valleys give way to the volcanic Andes. Hot moisture from the neighboring Amazon turns to racing cloud formations upon meeting the cool Andean air. Unfolding dramas of color and light play out on land and sky, a formidable challenge and delight to any landscape painter. Like Frederick Church before me, I hoped to bring American sensibilities to the scenic and the spectacular for this show “Mountains & Valleys, Ecuadorian Landscapes.”
